Howdy Guys! I have a 2005 Ex with the 5.4 3v. Just 2 months ago I rebuilt all the timing like phasers, chains, solenoids, and the phasers cause they were really starting to annoy me. Couldn't hear over the engine at the drive thru.
I did the oil pump an all exterior gaskets. But while I was in there I noticed a rocker had seized and got kicked during a time I was pulling 4000 rpms. So I didn't exactly know how to change the rocker out then so I just left it without one since it was and intake valve and it still had another one.
A week or two ago I read these motors use hydraulic lash adjusters and it got me thinking, because I didn't remove the adjuster just the rocker, that maybe I should've put one in there because the oil might be losing pressure due to this open adjuster. What do you guys think?
I decide not to to do it also in part to the fact that it filed the cam lobe down to the point where its probably useless in that spot. So I just figure there was no point in putting one in.
