? About bak roll-x tonneau cover...

Hi
I'm looking at the bak industries roll-x tonneau cover for my '11 f350. I was wondering if any one was able to find a way to lick it in a mid position, say to leave the 5th wheel hitch exposed without worrying if it would unroll. It looks like it possible to have some of the cleats catch the top. So maybe a small bungee to maybe hold the roll or some double sided Velcro maybe would work?

What's your thoughts on quality and long lasting? Ever catch a calf on the locking latches when loading the bed while standing in it?

Thanks
Doug

I have one

I've had a rollbak installed on my 2011 f250 for almost four years. My model can either fully open or fully close. I think it may be possible to add cleats to allow it to stop more frequently. You would have plenty of room for the hitch with the cover closed or open.

It leaks into the bed. Water will drain into the canister that holds the coiled cover. There are two drains from the canister. You can run hoses from the bottom of the canister through the grommets on the cab end of the bed. The drains from the canister get clogged with debris that slips under the canister cover.

I have had some issues with the brace bar that prevents the top from recoiling into the canister. A bolt holding the bar in place kept dropping from its mount. I had to JB weld the bolt in place.

I will not stand on the cover.

I can fit a floor jack under the canister.

I just ordered a Leer 100XL because the rollbak does not permit enough storage for my needs.

I had the Pace Edwards Jack Rabbit cover on my '05 SD for 6 years. Although it had multiple places that it would latch and lock I used a drill and a file to make an additional location for it to latch for maximum coverage while using my fifth-wheel.

I have this cover. The original side rails only have full open and closed latches installed and came with for extra latches to install at my desired positions. I had warranty replacements installed because the cover ate through the Teflon guides at the canister. The new side rails have for equally spaces catches already installed. You could easily reposition these to fit your needs. Overall I am very happy with this cover, not water tight but there ate not external locks so with the tail gate locked, very hard to get into. Check Amazon for this cover!

I opted for the Retrax. It will lock in any position.
