Okay, i have a 2001 F150 4.2L with a manual transmission and I'm looking at doing a motor swap. I want to do a V8 swap. What would I have to replace in order to make all this possible and what is the price range?
If you get a V8 from another 2001, you are looking at the mounts, wiring harness, computer and transmission. Radiator and accessories is a maybe, depending on what fits and if the radiator is big enough for the V8.
Cost depends on your source. If you can find a complete donor vehicle--body damage or a rear-ender--that would be the best way, as you "know" all the parts are there to make it run.
IMO it's more trouble than it's worth. V8 pickups are as common as sand at the beach. There is certainly a market for a V6 manual trans pickup. Sell it and buy a V8 model.
