Question Reverse/High Clutch snapring

In the reverse/high clutch assembly, there is this one snapring that I need to get out, yet pick nor snapring pliers will get it out. It's the kind of snapring that has no holes to use the pliers on. Anyone know how to get the damned thing out? I need to replace the clutches on the inside so I may finish my rebuild and finnally have my truck back.

Any transmission gurus out there?
Thanks

P.S. PLEASE HELP!!!!! I want my truck back.

Reverse/High Clutch snapring

I used to rebuild trannies at a local Ford dealership and I mainly used a 90 degree (L) dental pick for any of the clutch pack retaining rings. Sometimes you will have to use a small standard screwdriver to hold the ring so it will not move until you get the pick behind it to start to pull it out. Get a quality pick as some of the cheaper ones will spin and not allow you to twist and pry. Be patient and take your time!

Hope this helps,

I know..my camera sucks but I don't believe it's a snap ring now. It's 4 different pieces in there and according to my friend at the local tranny shop, you have to have a special tool to get it out.

In layman's terms, have you tried putting some downward force on the round thingy directly beneath this snapring that won't come out? Betcha that makes the snapring come out easier

Not so sure aout that one, from what you are describing, it is indeed a snapring, and it has 4 high points around it making sure it cannot come loose.
The "special tool" is likely a "clutch spring compressor". Use your imagination if you can't purchase one (ie. use c-clamps or an adjustable pitman arm puller that can open that far and then just push down on it, remove the snapring (but I am not sure the pitman puller extends that far open, but you get the picture)).
