I just replaced ball joints, all axle seals, installed axle, greased hub and bolted it on.
I went to put the washer, "nut", washer, then snapring and the groove is not out far enough to fit snapring in.
If I removed one of the washers or that "nut" I could get it with no problem.
Should I...
Remove a washer.
Place snapring on outside of groove...it's pretty snug.
Take hub off and pry axle forward.
I'll give it a shot.
Did you have to remove the hub or did you leave it in place?
You shouldn't have to remove anything, you can just put a pry bar between the axle housing and the CV joint and move it enough to get the snap ring in.
