Bumping this older thread as it seemed to have the most content on an Ecoboost swap into a OBS Ford truck. Six+ years later, I'm wondering if anyone has actually done this. Funny that it seems to be a more common swap into the older (50's/60's/70's) trucks.

I never got around to doing the engine swap. Life happened (new house, kids, other vehicles, other projects, etc). I still have the truck, but haven't driven it in about 5 years. I did buy a Megasquirt ECU to custom tune the existing 4.9l inline 6, but haven't even had a chance to try that. My son has claimed the truck as his, so ideally it will be a father-son project before too long. With the way electric vehicle technology has been advancing, that's more what I've been researching lately instead of an Ecoboost swap. Sorry.
Start there and go forward and back. The work he did/is doing on the projects is just amazing…
Yes, I've followed his amazing work. I was thinking more along the lines of a "conventional" swap where the basic truck remains the same - just a new engine (and perhaps a transmission).
