Recently my truck has developed a stutter between 1600 and 1900 rpm's. It is just a split second and doesn't jerk the truck or anything, but is noticeable. Doesn't do it on acceleration. When I put the chip on stock setting it is still there but not as noticeable. Fuel pressure is great. Changed the cps and I thought it was fixed, but 100 miles later it was back. Where do I go from here? I've never personally had the valve covers off so don't know what shape the harnesses and clips are in.
How many miles on your truck at this point? When the harness's start to move, it's pretty dramatic, with rough running and a check engine light. That's how mine went anyway.
Some searches on here for your problem of a stutter or miss at those rpms point to an IPR valve that needs a cleaning/rebuild. Another culprit if miles are getting up there is an injector is starting to go. A cylinder contribution test might reveal the bad stick.
It would be good to get a scan of the codes and run the CCT and see what the results are.
76,000 miles
It has a Standard Brand sensor in it right now. It replaced a ford dark blue sensor that I had in for 5 months, about 1500 miles.
I'll run code check and cct today.
ran cct and buzz tests, no codes have popped up. icp plug clean as a whistle
It occurs to me that this has been happening when the truck is warmed up, and on warmer afternoons.
I read where several have said that changing oil has cured a problem such as this. I have been changing around 5,000 miles and when I checked my records I am right there, so I'm going to do that before going further.
