96 7.3L Hard start after long drives

Just bought a 96 7.3L the other day. It starts no problem and runs fine. Only problem is that after long drives it has trouble starting. it cranks over but wont start up. after cranking for 6 times it will start and run fine. Any ideas? my first diesel so if you could speak in English that would be appreciated

Put new O rings on the 'Injector Pressure Regular' (IPR) on the back of the 'High Pressure Oil Pump' (HPOP). Welcome and someone will come along with a picture of where its at.

Welcome to the forum. No pictures or help in over 12 hours Hmmm? Maybe some on this site didn't like your comment about speaking english IDK. I've read comments about proper grammar and such, oh well I hope that's not the case. If I had any pictures or knowledge on the IPR I would be glad to help, so just consider my post a BUMP.

Welcome to FTE As Glenn suggested, the IPR o-rings is where I'd start. In this pic the IPR screws into the back of the high pressure oil pump. It has the the thin tin nut on the back of it. Most guys remove the fuel bowl to get to the IPR, but I have done it with the fuel bowl left in place.....it's not easy though. Remove the fuel bowl, unplug the wire connector from the IPR, remove the tin nut, then the spacer and solenoid slide off the stem of the valve. After you have the solenoid off, you will need a real deep 1 1/8" socket to get the IPR out.

You can order new IPR o-rings from Riffraff IPR Complete Re-Seal kit - Riffraff Diesel Performance

Depends on definition of long drives. If you mean until the truck warms up then probably could be IPR o-rings. If you mean long .. long drives, and the truck is new to you, a few days ago was your words, then might want to check the oil for quality and quantity. Power Strokes require special anti foaming agents in the oil to work properly between oil changes.

Pretty sure all he meant about speaking English was that he's new to Diesels and to go easy with all the acronyms; CPS, IPR, etc.

Thanks for the help . I meant long drives as in driving for an hour or 2 . On the highway . I might check fuel filters and fuel pressure
