SG2 showed around 13.5-14.1 Friday in town, after dipping to mid 11's on start up friday. Truck sat from Saturday till now and suprise I have 2 batteries showing 10.5V measured at battery via DVM. Wanted to see if something abnormal was snacking on batttery juice. Set DVM to measure current at 200mA and got a reading of .9 or 9,cannot remember. Either one of those numbers out of whack? I know to measure voltage across and current thru a component. Either way fresh new batteries tomorrow. My old tractor will get the best of the duds.SG2 leads me to belive alt is performing. Do not know if current draw is out of line. What numbers to look for tommorow with fresh batteries?
Generally (non 6.0 specific) parasitic draw should be 50ma or less (0.050amp). It can take several minutes for all the modules to go to sleep after turning the key off. If you have the under hood light, it will come on when you raise the hood, if you wait it will turn off when everything is asleep. Even opening the door will wake it back up.
If you were on a milliamperes scale 9 or .9 sounds ok. (Very low actually)
That there is 99.99999% of your problem. A 110A alternator should have never been put in our trucks (yet that is the stock sized Ford Alt). If you are putting in new batts, do your truck, FICM, injectors, etc. a favor and JUNK THAT PIECE OF CRAP!
Sorry, I meant to say: replace it with at least a 140A alternator, bigger if you have exceptional power needs (honkin' stereo or other power hungry goodies).
Pretty much everyone I know with a 110A Alt goes thru batteries like underwear...
I go through 2 new batteries every year in my 2004 F350 6.0. I am also in canada and we have some rough winters resting in some very hard starts. I just put a 140 amp alternator at 190000 k. The stock one lasted a long time. Hopefully won't be putting new batts in every year now.
Scott, my factory batteries lasted 8 years with the original 110 amp alternator. When they died, so did my FICM, sadly. Alternator is still good though.

That is a first for me Justin! Do you keep them on a float charge or anything like that? I've just started keeping the batts on a float -- my 1st set lasted 6 and a half years. My friend with the twin Alt set-up went 8 on his tho... I've got a factory 140A (which became the standard Alt in '08).

I don't do anything special with mine, no battery tender or anything. It has sat for up to 2 weeks before being ran before too.
I'm sure climate has something to do with it too. It rarely gets below 20° and above 100° in my area.
One of the old batteries had a bad cell. Other old one tested good. Replaced both and put old good one in the Allis Chalmers. My truck sits 4-10 days at a time. She is hooked to the charger as we speak. Will include her in the battery charger rotation. I got to much crap
