Dido. The seal is installed on the shaft before re assembly. It is a pain in the rear. I used a piece of 3 inch PVC to go around the seal. I put a board on top of the pipe to get a good solid even hit. A little silicone may help, the problem is that it is a tight fit and really hard to get started. I used a copious amount of foul language, not sure if it helped or not though.
