My friend just bought a 2002 F250 4x4 with the X-springs on it. Tomorrow he will be putting a 3.5 in fabtech spring hangers kit. He is planning to put 315/75/16 bfg tires and 16x10 wheels. Will this combination fit ok, or are the wheels to wide, and be better off with 16x8 wheels?
Anyone has a similar set up?
Yes, the tires will fit, but a word of warning for your friend. The combination of X-code springs along with the 3.5" hangers will result in about 5" of lift over standard V-code SD. This is way outside of Ford spec. and he will have one hell of a time reinstalling the track bar not to mention that his axle will be shifted way over to the left. He is going to need to invest in an adjustable track bar.
I went to the w from the v's and there was no height difference. I think ford makes the spring the same height just gives it more oompffff. would make sense cause they wouldn't have to mess with geometry..
I would think that depends on the truck..sagged springs, desiel engine vs 5.4. I read a post the other day which said the w's increased height 1.5 inches......not on my truck maybe 1/4 inch..
You may be correct on the x's
Thanks for the warning, Overkill in reference to the track bar.
Anyone know a site where they sell adjustable track bars?
Overkill you said that the front end will raise appx. 5 inches compare to stock. Will the rear end need adjustment or would it be fine? The truck has only 3500 miles on it and all the spring are almost new.
( My buddy lives in Mexico and has no access to the internet so I'll be doing all the talking for him.)
I would think that the rear would need some lift too. My buddy has a F-350 (4" rear blocks) with the v-codes and Fabtech 3.5".........it looks level to almost a little rear low. Since the F-250s have 2" blocks and the x-springs are higher I think he'd need some lift in the rear.
Edge, Fabtech, and Skyjacker all make adjustable trac bars. Any place that sells them should have it..............or you could purchase from Overkill.....but he doesn't have a website,,,,yet.
Originally posted by MrFeexit SO your saying for a total of 5" or more of lift an adjustable trac bar should be used.
MrFeexit,
It's not quite that simple. In this case where he is combining X-code springs with a 3.5" hanger kit which does not include a drop track bar bracket, yes an adjustable track bar will be necessary. With a lift kit which includes a drop track bar bracket to compensate for the lift then the adjustable track bar itself is optional.
Adjustable track bars run $140-$230 but are not all created equal. Some offer additional advantages over others. Installation is significantly easier than reinstalling the original track bar which often requires use of a come-a-long.
