Anything cheap and easy we can do to the ac to get it running colder? It's not bad... Seems to run best when I'm around 1300 rpms and not under a load. When I'm idling its more cool than cold, and when I'm running hard through traffic on the highway its more cool than cold. If I'm idling in a parking lot and throw the high idle on its nice and cold! What could someone with few tools do to help it be cold all the time? Do those ac regen kits at the auto store do any good, or do they just set me up for problems later?
Save yourself time and money in the long run and just go get it serviced with a machine. There is an orfice valve that can become partially clogged restricting the flow in your system. I had the same issue with mine last year and tried the can trick first. It helped but did not fix the issue. Still ended up dropping the cash to have it back to working order. The RPM's at interstate speed may be causing the high pressure switch to activate and stop the compressor. This could be a restriction in the system.
Sounds like something isn't working right for you. It may need servicing or maybe the blend door isn't working right under the dash. As far as a no $$ improvement, I'd check the vacuum pump and blend door operation. Other than that, a shop(or a friend?) with a manifold and gauges will be necessary. Just shooting a can of recharge in it is a shot in the dark.
I know the vacuum line for the front left hub is straight up sheared in half... Never bothered fixing it cause I don't use 4x4 anymore now that I'm in the city... I assume that could lead to problems with the blend door? Though it does go to defrost or regular vents as its supposed to based on the **** selection I pick...
Might want to check the heater control valve on the heater line under the hood. The valve is normally open with no vacuum applied. When the heater control is turned to OFF, or MAX A/C, vacuum should be applied and the valve should close.

Will do... I don't typically run it on Max AC cause it forces it to the defrost and I'd prefer it blowing on my face... Maybe I should switch it to max after it gets cool and it'll get good and cold then...
