Stuck throttle body
I started the truck for the first time in a couple of weeks and drove it. I went about 6 miles and just as I was close to work I decided it was running well so I floored it. The throttle body stuck open (put the gear in neutral and turned the motor off, coasted the rest of the way through some turns to work).
I haven't removed anything to look yet (I'm at work). I did look at the top of the TB and nothing is in the way to make this stick. I am not familiar with problems these have had. Any know issues? I was just going to try and lube it up with WD40 and see what that does.

On a more serious note glad you were able to control it and nobody got hurt.
Look for a stuck throttle cable or a binding TB linkage.

I was thinking when I got home to do that (try to lube up the cable inside). Just seems strange that it was working fine a couple of weeks ago and then for the first few miles and then this. Oh well, I am sure it's only temporary. Worst case scenario I'll have to down to the parts department (in my basement) and get my spare cable.
I did look around and the cable doesn't have any visible issues or kinks and it's routed in roughly the same place as it was. Nothing obvious.
Thanks for the suggestions.

OMG So I'm not the only one who thinks like that. Thank God. Thought I was alone. LOL
I had a screen mesh in front of my MASS air sensor. It somehow came loose and went through the blower. I think what happened is that it hit the impeller fan and got chewed up. It took out some of the fan and then went into the intake. Some pieces got stuck in the throttle body.
I cleaned that up and changed the oil. I then ran the oil through a filter and a few pieces were there but it looks like 99% of it is somewhere else. Could have got caught in the oil filter, could have gone out the exhaust, and/or could still be in the motor.
Motor runs fine - idle is the same, no strange noises, oil pressure is the same (digital gauge). I can't see anything that is different at this point. I drove it about 25 miles today (I ONLY got up to 90 on the interstate) and it is acting as it did before this happened.
There might be some metal in there but I don't see a reason to pull the motor now. I'd prefer to fix the issue when it arises than do all that work for maybe fixing something. I'll have to get the blower fixed though.
Have not installed another screen. I installed that to get laminar air across the sensor but it seems to run fine without it. Not sure what I'll do with that.

You're officially in "tear down" / inspect mode -- have had that happen on other vehicles and you'd be surprised where bits and pieces end up...........
If you're lucky, it got mostly ground up and only small bits went into the engine, which were then expelled out the exhaust.
