I drive a '99 F150 and have had problems lately with the throttle getting stuck. Normally I have been able to get it working but the last time it wouldn't and I had a very scary ride! Our Ford dealership says that it is very rare for a throttle cable to need replacing on this model so I am looking for others who have had this problem and what their solution was. I don't want it to happen again, especially if I happen to be in a city. I live in Canada and it has been cold for the last few weeks but we've had the truck for three years and not encountered this problem before.
rare doesnt mean impossible...... however, have you checked everything out yet? try to cycle the throttle body by hand and see if anything is binding/rubbing on something else. unhook the cable and see how it feels by hand, and also feel the throttle body without the cable hooked up. if it is infact the cable, then maybe it could be cleaned with a good cable lube. i know that works wonders on my dirtbike! good luck, and welcome to the boards.
also consider that condensation build up coming from the PCV system if ya take off the thottle body air hose you might see a build up of oil and water this has been known to freez if your in that kinda enviroment
If you find you have this situation really thats all you should or can do is periodically spray throttle body cleaner and install an air/oil modification

IIRC there was a TSB on water freezing and sticking them open but it was only for early '97 for some reason. I know this is obvious but my gas pedal will get stuck in the floor mat sometimes when I go WOT.
