my starter is tottally shot now...before i could smack it and it would start but that wont even work...

so boneyaqrd here i come...what year I-6 motors can i rob a starter from to get my ole girl going again???

i got a 92 f-150 with the I-6 and an aod tranny...

i would go new/rebuilt but i cant afford the 100$+a 40$ core that the stores are askin...

HELP I WANT MY TRUCK FIXED

As far as I know, they are all the same. Even a 240 starter will fit and I am quite sure one off of a 302 or 351W will also fit.

The ring gear spacing changed at some point - possibly in '87 with the EFI engines, but I know my '83 300ci starter didn't fit my '95 4.9L engine.

Make sure you get one for an automatic transmission.

Go to Motorcraft's site here and put in the info about your truck. When it brings up the part, click on the link that says BG (buyer's guide) and it will show you all the vehicles that part works on. Basically, any '92 - '96 Bronco, E-series or F-series with 4.9, 5.0, 5.8 and auto tranny.

Good site, mrwizard, but there's no BACK button. If the search returns no results, or not what you need, you have to start over. I sent them a couple of requests to fix it.

thanks for the help but a local boneyard had this computer program that shows interchangeability of parts and was able to help me out...they gave me a printout and i can take a starter from some newer mustngs cougars tbirds and a whole load of other cars ,and even a 92-96 f-series with the 302 or 351 and ofcourse the 300

but my next question is where can i get access to this info myself??

i would be willing to pay for site access or even better to get 1 of these computer programs
