What length throttle cable?

Got a 300 in my '69 F100 with an Offy C and a Holley 350 2bbl. Looking to get a Lokar throttle cable for it. Their website suggests the TC-1000HT or the TC-1000U, which are 24" long throttle cables for carbureted systems. Will that be long enough or would I need to call them for a more custom length?

Lay it out with a piece of wire or string and measure.

I'd prefer to not remove the one that's in there right now. I figured someone else on here would have already done this.

Hey trozei,

As a compromise to what BaronVonAutomatic suggested, why not leave yours attached and measure from the gas pedal to the firewall and then from the firewall to your current set-up. This will give you a pretty close overall measurement as a starting point.

Trozei,

I used the tc-1000ht, on my 1981 f100 4.9 Clifford intake holley 390 4 barrel. Fit very nicely. I don't know how much different the truck body to engine location is between the two trucks. Don't know if that helps any, but the cable works great for my setup..

Thanks. That's helpful. Our trucks should both require a similar length cable. How much extra slack does your cable have?

I routed the cable out through the firewall, around behind the valve cover low and up the right side of the valve cover, it's tucked away almost out of sight. It worked out really nice, enough length to route the way I wanted, and enough slack for some adjustment at the pedestal mount. I'd say about an 1" of adjustment.

My DP-1000U arrived yesterday. I've got the carburetor, adapter, and now throttle cable. My intake manifold is on back order so I can't do anything until I get that. Thanks for your help.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but was curious how the Holley 390 worked out. Was it a new unit? What changes did you make? How is power and mpg?

Thx.

I'm curious too. I got the 350 but I'm starting to want a 390.

F-250 restorer,
Bolted the 390 on right out of the box brand new. It fired right up, a small idle adjustment that's it. Now that the weather has warmed up a bit I had to make a slight choke adjustment. Truck runs great, has plenty of power and will get up and run. Normal driving I'm getting 18 mpg.

18 is very good. I assume that is on the freeway? I would also assume either you have an over drive trans or a rear with gears of 3.00 or higher?
