I planned to repaint my 1988 F350 and almost all of the body would need replacement and I planned to do an obs front clip swap anyway. Well I was reading through craigslist and found a PERFECT 93 F350 CCLB body for a song. The truck is a rolling body with the C6 trans MIA and a blown 460 (rod through the block) It's original paint with no bondo. I was considering robbing off parts but the paint is so nice If I could swap bodies I wouldn't have to repaint. I prefer the PBS interior anyway. My question is, will the cab bolt on to my 88 frame and will all the wiring plug in? If not on the wiring, what would have to be spliced/swapped to do so? Please answer ASAP because the offer won't
stay long at the price it's at
To put it simply, no. It will be a lot of work as the interiors cannot be swapped between the '88 and '93 cabs, that is the dash and the steering column, and the wiring is completely different. Not to mention the '88 has a cable driven speedo and the '93 is completely electric.
I'd still get the cab, sure there's differences but they're not insurmountable. It will physically bolt down. Transferring your wiring over isn't a big deal, the wiring was still really simple back then.
Exactly what wires need spliced? I don't mind doing a few but I don't like the idea of splicing the entire cab harness. Would it be easier to put my 88 drivetrain in the 93 body?
I probably sound stupid right now but do you mean transfer the 93 harness with the body to the 88? Will the 93 460 wiring harness plug in to my 88 460 engine?
I have no idea how to get the 93 gauges and stuff to work for your 88 so my approach would be to gut the front of the 93 cab and transfer your 88 dash into it. Your 88 should have a connector at the firewall where the engine harness connects to the body/dash harness. Transfer any wiring that's inside the 88 cab into the 93 cab so when you set the 93 cab down on your 88 frame you can plug the engine harness in.

That makes sense. Instead of the OBS gauges, I'd probably run a piece of black diamond plate background with illuminated racing gauges. As long as I could still have my stereo, heater, and A/C I'd be fine with doing the body swap. I think for all the stuff I'd have to do for a dash swap I'd rather do a little wiring than modify the whole dash mounting setup.
