Stick with what you have Marlon. Give it a shot.
I assume your set up with an equalizer hitch, load your gear in the rear of the trailer and relieve some of the weight off your tongue. (hitch weight).

Just an update after my first trip with the Ecoboost and new fifth wheel, Power wise it's not a problem and averaged around 9mpg for the trip. I weighed the trailer full, ready for camping on the truck scale and its was 9700lbs with a hitch weight of 1985lbs. I think the hitch weight is just too much for a half ton, I am 700lbs over the rear axle rating on the truck. Even though I have the power the truck just feels too small and it's like the tails wagging the dog.

So I have started my truck shopping and on the look out for a F250 or F350. Going to look at one today after work, We'll see how it goes!

I know that feeling Marlon, and it's not a good one. Go for the larger, heavier truck.

Well I bit the bullet and bought my first diesel!!! I found a extremely well looked after 2011 F250 Lariat 6.7L with only 55,000km on it. I bought the extended warranty with it so I will be covered bumper to bumper for another 4 years and 100,000 more km.

After taking this truck out for a drive along with a new F250 with the 6.2l gas. The diesel felt like a lot more truck. The Gas was much harder on fuel according to the lie-o-meter. I'm sad to see the Ecoboost go, it was a great truck for me, but I needed something bigger to help keep my precious cargo that uses the back seat of the truck safe!

I am looking at the 2012 Ford towing guide. What is your truck's GCWR? There are not a lot of configurations for a 2012 F150 that can handle that size trailer.

https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...FLRVTT_gde.pdf

Remember, "Could you do it?" and "Should you do it?" are two different questions. Yes, you could add airbags or springs to help level the load, but what about brakes? What about structural integrity? What about the transmission? What about the tires?

And don't be surprised if your camper with an 8,300 lbs stated dry weight pulls across the scales empty at 9,000 lbs or more. And it doesn't take much in the trailer to add another 1,000 lbs. Roughly 20% of that weight is on the pin for a 5th wheel.

Whichever you choose, be careful out there.

If Lucy And Desi Arnez Can do it with a 53 Flat head 100 HP merc.
Manual everything.
Than he should have no problem

The Long Long Trailer I think is the name of the movie.
