I was guna get that one but if it's used like mine I'll be back to square one with bad capacitors. I tried looking at advanced auto but there are way to many there lol
All of them will be used. This one comes with a warranty so that is good.
As another option I have a card of a guy who will make them good again (test and replace everything that's needed). He also offers a warranty and I have used him so I'd recommend him. He has been very fair to me in the past. Let me know if you want it.
I don't have a good one to fix anymore or I would call that guy lol kinda burned my board that's why I was looking If I cant find a new one I'll get a used one I guess and have it fixed
If it's just capacitors that need replacing, that's an easy fix. Just don't cheap out on these or they won't last very long. The originals may have leaked the electrolyte out, or they will dry out and act more like a resistor. Testing for capacitance value won't tell you much, they need to be tested for ESR or "leakage" at their rated voltage. Even so, quality replacement caps from outfits like Mouser are only a couple bucks, some rosin core solder and an iron and yer on your way. Can save $$$.
It pays to ensure that working units have a good clean ground and good contact cleaner applied to the pins and connectors, and some type of corrosion preventive to keep moisture away from the connections.
I burnt the bored trying to get an old cap out and the holes were.they were are a bit big now along with one of the printed circuits I burned on accident
Huh. I'm wondering for future reference - and this would look like hell - but electrically it wouldn't matter, if you could just clip the old cap off and try and realize enough of the old leads on top of the board and then solder the new cap to those. The idea being not to bugger up the old traces or anything like that.
Not to change the subject but my 64 F100 is 50 years old and dependable. Will my 09 Ranger even be repairable 50 years from now, all those chips and boards and golly knows what all. Thinking not.
