During my daily drive, my 2000 F150 will develop a squeek when braking. It will last for a period of time, then go away, only to return at a later time or the next day. Took truck to a shop for a brake inspection and was told that the rotors had no damage and there was plenty of life in the pads. Just got this truck in the past month, so I do not have any history. Have 4 wheel disc brakes. Would like some advice.
dro man dont you hate telling customers that their brake noises are normal? I sure do but Ford tells us it's acceptable.
Quite often trying a new set of pads, different brand maybe, will help but if there is lots of life left on your pads now you might want to wait til they get worse.

As long as it is the truth I have no problem telling them. Anyone that has drove up to a stop light with their window down knows that all makes of cars or trucks have brake noise. The worst thing you can do at the dealer is work on a problem that is normal, because it will be back, and once you have worked on it, you cannot convince someone that their complaint is normal.
Normal brake noise is acceptable, but when I hear the sound of metal to metal contact, that is distrubing. Took my water hose and ran it over all my brake areas with the wheels on, and that seemed to cure the problem for several days, but now it is back.
Can someone tell me the prefered pads to use for my model truck?
