injectors, hpop, now it blew up!

This is not my year for trucks it seems, but I need some opinions on this ordeal. Last Saturday I put injectors and glow plugs in the F450 I recently bought. I used BWD (borg warner) remans. It started and ran like a new one...until Tuesday. My guys went to the fuel station, filled up, and before they made it 1/2 mile the truck was white smoking, running bad, etc. I told them to try to get to the jobsite, which was nearby. It never made it. The truck lost power and died. I had it towed, suspecting bad fuel. I siphoned the fuel, filled it up and added sea foam because I didn't know what else to do.

Still no start. My mechanic came down, ran the tests, and it had exactly 35 pounds of icp pressure. $750 Ford reman HPOP and it was running, but very poorly. Pulled the oil cap and tons of blow by. After pulling the valve covers, and checking the injectors, he found that an injector tip was gone. You guessed it, hammered through the piston and this the blow by.

What do I do? Shouldn't BWD be responsible? How do I go about this??

I'd say they put Gas in it and that caused all the problems to began with. I've seen it done the other way when a diesel marking ended up being gas engine on a loner. It didn't blow up but it stopped in less then a mile. With the diesel if there's way more gas it will burn up. In this case injector tip. Do they have the receipt from the pump? I'd try and find an engine from the salvage yard and switch it out. ITs a work truck so what the hech. Check with the insurance company also if you have full coverage. It mitt be covered.

They have the reciept. The injectors had less than 300 miles on them. The station they went to has diesel out in a separate pump away from everything. It wasn't a fuel problem.

I really went off the deep end....I was in desperate need of an extra truck (as if 4 powerstrokes weren't enough), and bought an 07 cummins today. I plead insanity.

Is it a 07 with the 5.9 or a 07.5 with the 6.7?

I guess having so much work and the ability to buy trucks like you are, is a good problem to have.

That's the downside to remans. I'm guessing BWD would be more than happy to give you a new (reman) injector under warranty for the one that lost the tip. Don't think they will even say sorry to hear that in regards to the little issue of having a hole in the piston.

It's worth a shot though. I'd check into the warranty, and if you've got facebook, see if they have a facebook page you can comment on or post pictures to.

. And double check the receipt actually says diesel, and is for the right date.

Man I really feel for ya FTE Brotha. I would start looking on craigslist and calling your local junkyards for a forged rod replacement. They are out there just need to keep an eye out for them. $1000 bones plus labor and your back on the road. Use this blown motor for parts for your fleet.
