I just went through this last week. There's a national back order going on right now...... Get whatever one has a decent warranty and fair price until you can get a new Bosch pump later
When I replaced my fuel pump a few months ago, someone recommended the Airtex E2236. I ended up getting one of the last Bosch pumps on Amazon however, so I don't have any personal experience with Airtex. Whatever you get, make sure it is rated for diesel fuel. I had a Walbro pump that crapped the bed after only 20,000 miles or so.
Thanks for all your replies. I went with a precision from the Irish store for $150. Made in the USA is stamped on the metal shell. I was in shock to see this.
The one I took out was a Carter brand, also stamped with Made in the USA. I know it is at least 7-8 years old as I have never changed my fuel pump.
I had a stock bosh pump run at 110 psi for 8 month . And a airtex run 110 psi for about 2 months before i found out i had double the psi haha so i think their both good pumps. I just dont see their being much of a difference between the pumps,my truck ran the same with both. Their are some pumps on ebay for under $50 if you needed a backup pump or were going to run a dual pump set up

That's the one I went with too. It's only been a week but it seems to be doing alright for now. I'll hook by fuel pressure gauge up when I get a change and compare psi to Bosch.
O'Reillys doesn't carry the airtek pump anymore even though it's still listed on their website. I asked why and of course they had no idea, said it was a corporate thing.

Longevity... the Bosch is an unusual construction. A member dissected one and posted the pictures on the forum. I about broke my brain on the fuel pump sweepstakes, and the Bosch got the prize.
They all perform well when new, but mine had over 6,000 hours on it (estimated) when I pulled it... and it still worked fine on stock sticks. I replaced mine only as a precaution to protect my brand new Stage II injectors.

My fuel gauge is what clued me into my pump failure. Truck ran fine, but my psi was bouncing between 20-70. I couldn't hear it while cruising, but when I came to a stop, I could hear the pump make a groaning noise in sync with the fuel psi dance. Made a 100 mile trip from Sac to Chico with it doing this, but the truck ran like a champ the whole time. I wish I could get my hands on a Bosch pump, but any working pump is better than getting stuck on the side of the rode.
I used this NAPA pumpNAPA AUTO PARTS which is a Carter on mine it's still doing a great job . and it's showing in stock .
I had one of those for 12 miles, yes 12 miles.... I went back with Bosch. You can check with Dave at veggiegarage.com he had a few when others didn't...

I can say the Carter pump has always been noisy for the 8 years I've owned my truck, but it never let me down until yesterday.
