What is FX4 Level II
My truck a 2005 Ranger 4.0L auto ext cab is FX4 Level II. What does FX4 level II stand for?
I have 3 position rotary switch **** on the dash- 2wd, 4x4 high, 4x4 low.
4x4 control module behind the radio.
switching motor on transfer case of course.
What kind of hubs do I have? or How can I tell?

You don't have lockable hubs. The "hubs" are locked in all the time, even in 2wd, and there's no way to unlock them. This is how all 2001+ Rangers are. The Fx4 Level II has a 31 spline rear axle (as opposed to 28 spline for all other models) and a Torsen limited slip in the rear (as opposed to regular open diff or Track-Lock limited slip for all other models). I think there are some skid plates underneath that other models don't have, possibly some fancy shocks. There are some minor cosmetic differences too, like rims and interior pieces.
Thanks for the info
Thanks for the info. That sheds some light on the subject. I was curious about the hubs because they felt when driving they didn`t unlock. Is the Torsen diff any advantage or is it just a brand name or a sales gimmick.
Thanks again

The Torsen is a gear type limited-slip differential. Like was said, one of the best.
But when you change the oil in it, you MUST use the full synthetic 75W-140 oil specified or risk trashing the unit.
