What does it feel/sound like when the TT kicks in?
Today we got our first snow of the season and the roads were a little slick in town. I took a corner and gunned it a little and when the back end kicked out a bit I could hear/feel a slight grinding sound then the truck straightened out. I gunned it again at the next turn and got the truck to do the same thing. Was this the traction control kicking in? By the way, The hubs were locked in but I was running in 2wd.

So is this normal? Does the "grabbing" have any adverse effects on the differentials? I ask because I have an 07 F350 with the hubs that I turn to lock but when I unlock them they are still in auto so I assume they will do the same thing as the OP said about his truck. Also will they do this if the truck is not in 4WD?

Does the noise come from the front or rear?
When my rear end slides out I can feel the limited slip grab and straighten the truck out. I dont think it is a good idea to run with the hubs locked and in 2wd.
Mcrafty- The hubs are lock and auto like stated. The auto function is supposed to lock the hubs when the dash switch is moved from 2wd to either 4wd high or low.
Does your auto hubs work?
A limited slip is designed to grab when slipping occurs. Its a mechanical device in the axle connecting both tires when neccessary.

Running with the hubs locked and in 2wd is no concern, doesn't hurt anything but a marginal amount of mpg's. I run my truck (and my previous truck) all winter with the hubs locked.
OP has an e-locker so he doesn't have a limited slip. It's open. If you're turning and spinning the truck around, it's probably the roll stability. It'll grab the brakes in the appropriate corner to keep the truck in control.

thanks for the info guys. I forgot to put in the original post that I have a manual t-case so my hubs have only the lock or free position. I think Matt might be right with it being the RSC, it kinda felt like a brake grabbing and it was just at one corner but it happened so fast I couldn't distinguish which corner it came from. The roads have cleared up so I haven't been able to see if it will do it again on command.
