Ok, so here is something I can't quite figure out. On both my '47s the rods are round stock under the hood and have a neat snap/pull connector to the ball ends on the carb. At the opposite end they are threaded. At a point under the dash the threaded end bolts to an adjustable, slotted piece that becomes the ****, which is attached to the actual plastic **** on the dash. My camera is not working so I can't send a pic, and I got an I Phone last week, but have been too busy to figure out how to do anything but a phone call on it. The threaded end of the rod doesn't grip onto the flat stock that has the **** on either the choke or throttle. Should there be a small nut captured in there or are the threads spread open or stripped or what? Any help appreciated. Thanks. GB
Got my old camera going.... What it seems is the threaded end on the round rod goes into a rubber sleeve crimped into a swedged end on the flat stock. Almost like the rubber 'hose' was the threads??? I can see welding a small nut onto the flat stock, then I would have 2 adjusters. The slotted flat stock provides adjustment where it bolts to the actual flat bar that has the **** through the dash. Nothing in the catalog photos looks quite like what I have. Not a big deal to alter with some welding. It's not like I'm gonna lose points at the Pebble Beach concourse d'elegance when the judge looks under the dash. "AHA!, an altered choke rod!"
I think Ford originally crimped the rods / ***** together. Most people I know thread the rod a bit further then solder or weld a nut to the mating part. Gets the job done.
