Both of mine are lost or broken. In looking for a replacement the price range is all over the place. I found them for $15 on amazon to $75 at the steelership. Is their a difference? Do you guys know of a better a better place to get one?
Thanks, David
My wife lost one of mine. A friend gave her a random one, it is the same size and shape but the buttons are different colors than what I have (I think blue and red vs. black).
I have no idea how to tell if it's compatible, and if so, how to program it.
When I got my wifes 01 Windstar it was missing the fobs so I got 2 new ones off Fleabay. It has been awhile but if memory serves me there was a procedure in the manual how to program the fob! I bet if you went on the web you would find out how to do it!
I found this ! belive thats what I did on the wifes van!
I just had to do this last night on my 1999 Expedition.
** All transmitters must be programmed at the same time! Max of 4 transmitters can be programmed. **
- Keep the driver's door open.
- Electronically unlock the doors (Switch on door or working transmitter).
- Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the eighth turn ending in RUN. If the module has successfully entered program mode, it will lock and then unlock all doors.
- Within 20 seconds, press any button on an transmitter, and the doors will lock and then unlock to confirm that each transmitter has been programmed. Repeat this step for each transmitter.
** If the door locks do not respond for any transmitter, wait several seconds and press the button again. **
- To exit the programming mode:
-- Turn ignition to the OFF position.
-- Let the 20 seconds expire.
-- The maximum number of transmitters have been programmed.
I've been meaning to buy another one too. I wonder, will one remote work if it is programmed for 2 vehicles? I hate carrying around 2 remotes. These vehicles are rarely both within range of the remote so they won't be locking / unlocking at the same time. I know I have nothing to lose by trying it, but wondered if anybody has tried it already?
I just bought 2 from extra-partss on eBay and they were brand new OEM Ford 3 button key fobs for $24.77. Came with new batteries installed and the programming instructions worked the first time. I would definitely recommend them.

Don't know how 1 remote would work for 2 diff vehicles? Would think I could walk around and open up anybodys car or truck? I don't think so!Must be separate codes ?
