I am installing a Ford stereo/8track in my 75 F-150. To drive a pair of
12" sub woofers behind the seat, I picked up a Chrysler Infinity amp for $10.
The wiring diagram was an easy find on line. Connecting them is another
matter. The radio has a trigger wire. The amp has 2 pair of red & white
wires. 1 pair is constant 12 volts and the other pair is switched 12 volts.
Am I trying the impossible? HELP.
PROBLEM SOLVED I ordered a Lepai mdl. LP838 2 chennel amp on line for $19. delivered.
It will be mounted under the dash and drive a pair of sub-woofers in enclosures
behind the seat. It draws only 2 amps for an easy hook-up
Thankyou for the overwhelming number of ideas and suggestions.
The tunes the amp will be amplifying is classical, music of the church i.e. organ and chorus, concert band, and the sounds of the big band era. No rock'n roll here.
Therefore, if our Stella (our F-150) is rock'n, come on in.
2 12's off of a Chrysler amp? I'm curious how much power that's putting out, seems like the subs would be starved. Glad you were able to figure it out though.
