oil question

today I lost oil pressure.

in the morning it started fine, shut it off went to restart and would not start. I had an air leak in the HPOP replaced the HPOP, everything was working great. I asked the Mech for any codes he would only say for oil pressure loss but not the code. no visible oil anyplace, he thinks the leaks are from the injectors. any thoughts on this.

it is at the dealership now..only place to get help other than here.

2006
F250
build date 12-05
Upgrades;
APR studs
Blue spring
BPD EGR and oil cooler
New Lpop
New Hpop
4 new injectors had a code for those
FICM was replaced 2 years ago
2 new bats last week
Redhead steering box 2 years
starter changed a month ago

No tunes.

I have new oil rails picked these up because a guy ordered them and did not order the right ones for his truck...paid 100 bucks for both left and right.

have ordered a new water pump do not need this but do not know when I might. also looking to pick up other parts and I have to order everything from the states. So if I have things here I know it is less work later on...so building a wish list. I do have the Edge insight CTS just not installed yet. came in today...but this problem never gave me a chance.

First off, if he will not give you the code I would speak to the service manager. Very hard to begin any kind of troubleshooting without seeing your Delta's.

You have done a fair amount of work. Possible issues right now could be a failed ICP, IPR sensor, STC fitting and Dummy Plugs.

The only way I know to verify if it is the injectors or your new Oil rails would be to pull the ICP and perfrom another air leak test. Most likely though being a 2006 I would suspect a failed STC fitting, or dummy plug over an injector leak. I did not see these as an upgrade on your list. These are the weak points of the 04.5 and up systems. Although he may have meant there was a leak in the injector system in which he would be correct. Just didn't explain it very well.

As far as I know injectors don't ususally leak unless they fail due to a bad oil rail.

Bottom line: you need the codes, Delta's in order for you to know what is going on.

Your Edge insight CTS is capable of reading the IPR% now due to a recent update, you may need to go and download the fusion software from the Edge products website so your CTS can read it, note: after the update you may have an alarm for "main inj power", just disable this alarm as it was not intended with the update. Before you spend a bunch of money trying to diagnose a possible system problem I would drain the oil to see if there is a reason to suspect something went through your LPOP. These 6.0's are pretty well known to lose a lifter, sending debris through the pump.

So I have done the air pressure test. and come to find out 3 injectors the seals are leaking. the Ford Mech pulled the injectors and said they were good just needed the o-rings, he said he would get them and reinstall and should have it tomorrow.

the Shop manger wants me to buy 8 new injectors. I have 4 new ones installed with no problems. and those only needed the seals as well according to the mech. so he is going to give me the seals for those 4 and do the seals for the 4 old ones that now need it so I am not buying injectors.

So now my question is should have I have a bench stock of items for my 6.0? to lower my down time.

thanks..

To ashville engines, that is not the way to chech for a bad lifter or check for oil pressure.I can't see wasting $ 100.00 worth of oil when they have oil pressure guages and a test for checking lifters

Per4mance, You are absolutely correct but in a majority of cases, a person is either close to needing an oil change, needs an oil change or is past due for an oil change. Depending on that, I weigh the cost of labor vs cost of oil.
I should have specified each scenario.
