#14406 is probably the culprit. Sounds like no ground. You need to complete the circuit.

What makes you think he has voltage at the light? you need to check the 2 outputs from the headlight switch to make sure your switch is good, if you have 12v there go to the door switches, then the light assy, then ground.

this may just be because it's early and I had a late night, but for some reason I don't think that wiring diagram is correct, I can't find where the dome light switch gets power in that diagram.
Maybe somebody else more awake can correct me.

Very good info above. I guess I too damn old school. You have to get a circuit tester with bulb or meter. 1st is there power at the bulb? If yes you are facing the problem, if no you have to go backwards to the place there is no power. This can be a little time consuming but is not complicated or I could not do it.

Post 4: Look at the left corner, center and upper right for 14406 / This pic is from the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog.

This is the feed wire that branches off the taillamp harness for the in-cab fuel tank sending unit and the dome lamp.

If the truck also has the optional 25 gallon auxiliary tank, there is an extra feed wire that just branches off to it.

I will defiantly look into that since over 15 years ago second tank was removed. I have driven the truck without the little things like this but now that my wife is driving truck she wants these things fixed .

That diagrahm I got off the "other" site is supposedly for a 1969. It shows the headlamp switch powers the dome light. It also shows the dome lamp has it's own ground wire. I believe that 14406 is strictly for the Fuel gauge curcuit. I would check that ground to be good. That's easy enough to do but my money is on the headlamp switch.

2 X Eric. Looks like they have the inside of the headlamp switch maped out wrong. But I think it's trying to say curcuit 54A is giving power to the courtesy light switches to allow them to turn on the dome lamp. And 53 is how the headlamp switch manually turns on the lamp.
