Hey I was just trying to get some ideas/opinions on the built in tool boxes that I think came with the camper specials.
I already have a truck with one on it (the one in the picture) and was just wondering if anyone has tried putting two on a single truck. I have a second toolbox which is in a junk bed. How much work would it be to put it on the other side? Theoretically the body lines should be the same and I think that it would add something interesting to the truck and set me apart. Oh and it just happens that the bed has some damage in the spot where it would go so it needs some body work anyway.
Here is the other side (sorry for bad photo) but you can see the wrinkling along the side of the bed. I was just wanting some info if it would even work and look good. I think it will. Any problems I have overlooked?
That tool box was just optional...may have been standard on the CS's...I dunno, but they were definitely available for other trucks. As for adding the tool box to the other side...cut tool box out, cut panel out of bed, weld tool box in...done. I'm not a metal worker or welder by any means, so I had my buddy do the actual welding.
It's almost that simple...on the driver side your going to have to change the stock contour of the bed somehow to make everything line up. Cut the hole and you'll see what I mean. They are not the same contour as far as the front and rear of the sheet metal.
Get a plastic JY fuel tank and use pieces from it to form a notched out section for the front leaf hanger. Find someone who does plastic welding and your GTG.
