I'm not driving my 68 with 360 yet but I'm wondering if I should be using a lead additive? What is everyone using? I have no idea if the heads have ever been off this thing so I am assuming it's original.
I've never added anything back when I still had stock engines. They took lead out 20 yrs ago? If you aren't working it "hard", then I would not worry too much about it at this point.
From what I have read of independent testing, the lead additives (substitutes) do work, but only at a lot higher concentrations than specified. So it comes down to adding something like three or four bottles per tank. That gets expensive pretty quick.
Have also read that just tooling around town, low revs doesn't cause problems w/o hard valve seats, but - any sort of extended high speeds highway use or towing, heavy loads operation, they will wear out quick.
