Still rocking my 2 wheel drive system but I can reuse whatever I get when I finally find a donor truck for my 4x4 conversion.
I have a 2" lift and the truck bounces all over the place every time I hit a little bump in the road. I'm looking for a comfortable smooth ride. I've seen Rancho and superlift and kyb. Not sure what to get but I will get the longer ones while I'm upgrading.
I'd recommend a "name-brand" monotube shock. I personally like the KYB Monomax shocks on these trucks at that price point, but there are many, many choices when it comes to shocks for these trucks.

I was planning on going name brand, just didn't know what would give the best ride with my options of those kybs or what I mentioned above.
Take a look at the specs. The offerings from both Rancho and Superlift are going to be twin-tube design. Bilstein, KYB, SkyJacker, Edelbrock, Monroe, etc. offer monotube shocks for these trucks.
So I see why the monotube is better now, but I don't know what to pick as far as what is going to give the smoothest ride and make my truck more comfortable.
That will be a matter of personal preference and budget. Keep in mind that shocks will only do so much in terms of ride characteristics. Springs, anti-sway bars, and tires all play a important role here.
In order to determine which shocks will be "softer" or "firmer", you'll need to obtain the valving data for the shocks you're considering.

I'm running stock springs and no sway bars. I have a rear sway bar laying around but don't want to use it without a front bar.
Go with Bilstein, they make the best shocks for these trucks, unless you decide to go full wallet, then you might want to look what does Fox have to offer, a little tip, the longer the shock, the softer the ride.

Thanks. Looks like I'll be checking out the bilsteins.
