Obviously not everybody does understand, because it is being misused by this group. I really don't care if that's the culture here, I didn't understand so I asked what everyone meant by using the word deltas. Now I know.

You couldn't figure it out by reading this thread????
Passive-aggressive? I'm just stepping in for Josh and stating the obvious.
JSWARTZ, he obviously doesn't have time or patience for the obvious. I personally don't have time or patience for attitudes when the purpose here is to help people not criticze them for grammar.

LOL... I've been saying the same things forever. It wasn't worth fighting and I just keep the peace knowing my physics and do not use the "Delta" term incorrectly.
I'm just trying to figure out who decided to start calling the spread between the comparison of two temperatures "deltas."
In math language, delta "a triangle symbol" mean the difference between two numbers...
So for use of the word delta to compare the difference temperature between the oil and coolant is perfectly correct...

It's only correct when referencing the same subject. For example the cold start ECT was 50 and the operating temp is 190 with a Delta of 140. Delta isn't used to compare "apples" to "oranges"
Calling the delta of ECT and EOT is 100% incorrect and is only a temp difference.
