My 96 is stock height. I do have 31" tires (Big whoop). I am having a little problem in my suspension. It feels tippy, like there is an area where the body will tip back and forth like it is top heavy. It's more like the body feels disconnected. Makes me sway back and forth in my seat slightly. It doesn't feel dangerous, but it bugs the heck outta me. It can happen on a smooth road at 25-30 mph when i put slight steering input. When I'm parked, I shake the body back and forth but it doesn't seem loose. That's how I figure i could check out the body mounts for tightness. The shocks are good. Replaced them last year. Doesn't bounce. This has been my daily driver for about 11 years now and I don't remember it happening until recent months. Any ideas???
Maybe check the bodymounts by hand individually. stock height so im assuming stock bushings (rubber) I would guess that some are starting to rot out and aren't providing support like they are supposed to. Does it happen regardless of which way you turn? Something like that sounds like it COULD be very dangerous so I would really try to figure out what it is especially if you are driving it a lot.
Turning left or right at 25 mph or higher. Normal city driving. I don't do much high speed highway driving in the past couple of years. Just a little sway at the top either direction falling away from center. Feels weird.
Like Thunderhorn said, it sounds like one of your body mounts could be rotting from the inside out or just going bad. My trucks stock lift on 33's and I don't have a feeling like you. You might want to look into new body mounts anyways, the truck is 18 years old anyways.
You said 96' not 94'. But I would definitely look and make sure they don't look rotted, feel all around them. I don't know where you are from, but in MI those big tires like to kick up lots of dirt/salt year round.
How's the suspension? Sounds like it might be worn. Honestly my stock suspension before I changed it about 2 years ago road like a Cadillac felt like a boat and really felt soft. Now its really stiff and bounces around like a pickup lol
