Hey guys. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that is pretty savy with the old 4 speeds that these things came with. I recently acquired a 78 with a c6. I have no idea what kind of condition the thing is in (because the motor doesn't run) and have had horrible luck with automatics of every make and era. I have an np435 that was previously in my 75 pickup in a divorced set up. If its not too big of a pain, I'd like to replace the c6 with it.
Being that junker 1978-79 broncos are scarce around here. I'm trying to way my options on how to do the swap.
I'm curious about a Few things:
What does it take to marry an np205 to a divorced style np435 (or is it even possible)? can parts from t18/t19 be used?
Assuming it is possible:
I'm guessing I won't be able to reuse my drivelines because the difference in length between the 4 speed and automatic. Are the wheelbases similar enough in later model broncos or f100s/f150s to use drivelines from them?
I'm also curious about the clutch linkage used in rigs. Do all the different engines use different linkage or is it a lot of the same parts adjusted differently?
Drivelines you may have to get modified at a machine shop. I would assume you would be able to pair a divorced transmission with a normally married transfer case (I assume there is an aftermarket selection for that)
I've seen the adapter that you're supposed to use. I'm just curious if the main shaft of the transmission is the same length, whether or not I need some sort of oil seal or carrier bearing inside of the adapter
