Question How do I remove the evaporator?

I'm having a heck of a time trying to remove the plastic housing around my evaporator core. Does anyone know how to do this on a 93 Ford Explorer.

Are there any screws inside the vehicle holding the evaporator to the firewall. Someone mentioned removing the plastic wheel-well skirt for easier access.

Help????

How do I remove the evaporator?

I'm having the same issue with my 91 Bronco. I found the two screws on top, front and bottom. There was one stud on the top with a nut on it. Something is holding it at the bottom but I can't find it.

How do I remove the evaporator?

Hi Stepbyrd,

That was my post on aircondition.com as nobody responded to my question on Ford-Trucks.com. Looks like there is a screw inside the truck located in behind the glove compartment. Someone also mentioned that you might want to remove the wheel-well splash guard for easier access to the other screws.

I was hoping to just seperate to two-halves on the plastic assembly around the evaporator but it appears you have to remove the entire blower-motor/evaporator housing.

Let me know how it works out for you.

Thanks, Todd.

I guess if I had of paid attention to your user name I woud have seen that. There was a screw inside that I had missed. Once I removed it, the plastic cover came apart.

How do I remove the evaporator?

Hi Stepbyrd,

Can you give me some hints on where that screw is and how difficult it is to remove? I know there are at least 2 10mm nuts that need to be removed from the engine side of things.

Anymore that you know of? Anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks again,

Todd.

p.s. by the time I get my a/c fixed it'll be too cold outside to run it!!!

How do I remove the evaporator?

If you sit in the passenger seat on my Bronco, the screw was located almost directly below the left corner of the glove box along the bottom of the interior "duct work" for the Air/Heater. I don't have a Digital camera available or I'd post ya a picture.

The screw itself was very easy to remove.
