I just changed the oil on my truck and before even firing it up, went to check the level and the new oil is already black! Usually when I've changed it in the past the fresh oil is so clean you can' even see it on the dipstick. I know it changes black from mixing with the soot after you drive the truck, but like I said it hasn't been started so this makes no sense.
I know I got all the old oil out, I let it drain until it wasn't even dripping anymore.
I know this won't be any help to you,But I have heard in the past that this happened to someone on here.I don't think I would worry about it,It is strange though.
I bought my truck new and do 3000 miles oil changes.I know what you mean about not being about to read it on the stick. It takes me damn near 2-300 miles before I can start reading it on the stick after an oil change.
I saw a video that shows if you remove the oil filter after draining the oil from the pan and putting the plug back in, the dirty oil in the filter canister dumps into the drain pan. It can't be much, but maybe enough to cause what you saw.

+1 Makes sense a lot more comes out when I loosen the cap on the filter
I changed the filter while the oil was draining. I just took the truck for a drive and now the oil on the dipstick is much cleaner, so I guess everything is fine. It still seems weird to me that it never did this before though.
