Eh, I like all the seasons. I thought it was funny that it snowed. It was all gone today, it will be warm again in a couple days.

Looks like only a skiff, that is not snow. In fact I don't see any signs of much snow at all. Are you sure you had much this year?

That's good Eddie.

Hoping to get the plug from for the camshaft position sensor out of the new engine put the camshaft position sensor on plug the rest of the wires in and put the intake back on. If I get time I need to put the interior back together and tighten the transmission cross member bolts and exhaust bolts. I also have to change the drivers side exhaust manifold out. After all that is done I should be pretty much done with the explorer and I can start driving it and move to the next project (my 88 F150 engine swap)

I don't know if I told you guys but the old explorer engine wasn't seized it was actually the starter seized. Found out the other day when I went to crank it over and it wouldn't crank. I had put the explorer starter back in. I put a starter I knew was good from the parts truck and it turned over and almost started but couldn't because of the few things that need to be put back together. So I only swapped an engine to get a 100K less mile engine in it. So I covered up the old explorer engine and have it sitting around waiting for something to go into.

I see you have an 86 F150 we use to have one but ended up getting rid of it except it was 4x4. I hope yours treats you as well as ours did.

Wow that is quite the list of things to knock out today. I thought I had read that you found out it was a good engine in a different thread somewhere. Gratz on the win win there. The 86 my mom owned for about 10 years, then it sat for hmmm... roughly the last 8. It was a great truck up til then, now from what I was told, it has a rod knock. I will have to be sourcing an engine or doing a rebuild. I don't know what direction I am going to go with it yet so not sure.

I couldn't remember if I posted it or not I know I had on the Explorer forum. Ya I could probably get them all done today but only if everything went smooth which so far pulling the plug for the camshaft position sensor is not. If I don't get it today then I will sometime hopefully will have it together over the weekend.

Thanks on the gratz. Me and my dad are hoping to look for an explorer or ranger possibly another Bronco 2 to drop the engine, transmission and t-case in. If the engine shows a bad compression test then going to look for a explorer or ranger with bad trans and or t-case. (not that we need another vehicle just hate to let the thing sit and rot laying around)

My 88 sat for about 6-8 years and when I fired it up it ran great then next thing I know it threw a rod because oil pump was shot. I went and picked up another 302 but found out the plugs were out of it so I have to pull the heads on it inspect it and if good put some new parts on it and call it good. If not I am going to find a 351W and build it up then drop it in.

What is in your 86? If you have a 300 I6 or 302 V8 I would opt for a 351W swap it is bolt in and will use most of your stock parts. If you are a 302 EFI then I would say drop a 351W EFI from a 94-97 Fseries into your truck. It would give you EFI (which personally I like), a roller cam, and a lot more power. If you are carbed I would stay carbed as I am not sure what is required for it (not much of a carb guy).

Mine is an 84, did I put 86 somewhere? I have a 302 currently. I was thinking about going to a 351 if I could source one cheap enough. I know both FI and Carbed pretty well. If I could source a rollover or something mid 90's I could yank all the sensors harness and ecm and go to EFI. The simple would be to source a carbed 351 bolt it in and just drive it. There is 0 rust on this truck and if there are any dents at all I couldnt' find them. The body is pretty much mint excluding needing a paint job. I am pretty sure I have about a gallon of black and blue left for that from painting an eclipse. The interior is hosed due to sun rot, not a big deal.
