I've had my truck since 2006, I've put well over 150,000 miles on it. Recently I've had some stiction issues so I decided to put some rev-x in it. I've watched ton of vids on youtube about adding it and oil changes. In each of the vidoes I've noticed they are talking about how when you pull the oil filter it should spring out a little. Mine has never done this. I'm using motorcraft oil filters and the oil cap appears to be OEM. Should I be worried, is there something I can check to see if its broken?
Look inside your oil filter. At the top, inside, theres a hole. That "button" on the standpipe plugs it up. Its a Bypass if your filter gets plugged up. Another reason not to use aftermarket caps and filters.
I even sent photos of my early 2003 6.0 PSD (feb 30 ?) oil filter housing to my local Ford parts dept - they claimed that ALL 6.0's were spring loaded!!
I wondered why their service dept never mentioned the missing spring assy during the last 4 oil changes
Think I'll be doing the minor maint myself for awhile............
