A couple of times recently my brakes have been very hot when I stopped.
I took it to my mechanic who took it for a drive and then used an IR thermometer to measure the rotor temps.
The front right and rear left rotors were at least 40 degrees higher than their opposites on the same axle.
He believes it is probably the master cylinder..
Since the high temps are not uniform I would be more inclined, with the info supplied, that you have calipers that may be sticking. You also need to do rotor run outs as part of the decision.
Your slide pins are probably sticking. Its common. Ford has released revised slide pins. Pull the slide pins and grease them. Install new updated slide pins if you wish.
if the master cylinder was bad the symptoms would be fluid leaking, or no brakes, or all the brakes dragging.
40 degrees difference is not a big deal. 400 degree difference is a big deal.
Tom and I actually agree on something.
Agree that it's not the master cylinder. You can have stuck slide pins or stuck caliper pistons that can cause that. And both are relatively common, so that would be where to start.
