Hey everyone. Been about a year since I have logged in. Need some suggestions. Have been searching threads but still can't come up with a solid plan. Anyhow I have a 97 f250 heavy duty 5.8 4x4 E4OD. Truck runs ok and it has around 160.000 on the clock. I want a fresh motor in this rig. I tow an older 18ft aluminum Starcraft boat in the summer time and while it's not real heavy I would like more power. I have a 5.8 block out of a 96 f250 sitting waiting to be rebuilt. Budget is around 2300-2500. I'm not looking to go crazy just want a fresh motor with a bit more power. No idea what kind of machine work it will need but it was running with no knocking when it was pulled I believe it also had around 160.000 on it. I want to know what some of you guys would do to this motor. Truck is speed density and I read so many conflicting things.so I guess I'm just looking for real world suggestions about getting more power at a reasonable price without upsetting or having to tune the computer. So any of you guys that have built along those lines I would love to hear what you did. I plan on talking to the guys at the local speed /machine shop but I would like to have a plan in mind before I take the block to them.
