So, turn signals just stopped working the other day. Brake lights work fine. Hazard flashers work fine, just no turn signals at all...and no clicking sound. From my research, found the signal flasher relay is a likely culprit. However, I finally got to it today, removed it and got a replacement from O'Reilly's. They did not have the SF-633, which seemed to be the replacement, but they did have in stock a Littelfuse 727, which looked exactly alike and says it goes on the 2002 Excursion Limited. However, I put it back in and still nothing. Could this be the turn signal switch in the column? Would the hazards work and the turn signals not work if it was the switch? I'd really like to get this issue resolved so that I can move on to the other issues that keep cropping up. Thanks.
The Multi-function switch(turn signal switch) is a common failure. The hazards can work and have no turn signals. The next step to diag problem is to access the switch connectors and check for power into the switch and power coming out of switch. I dont have a wiring diagram to tell you what wire colors you need to check. It has 2 connectors with several wires in each.
Thanks. I do have a wiring diagram so I will try that next. I got to thinking and I think I've already had to replace this switch once. Seems like it was a real pain, so I wanted to see if it could be something else before I tore into it. Will have to bite the bullet and check out the switch. Thanks for the reply. Have a good weekend.
For those who stumble on this thread in the future with the same issue, here's what I found today. I had lost all turn signals, the lie-o-meter wasn't working and the rear AC/heat fan wasn't blowing (control in the overhead console). However, I did still have the lights/HVAC illumination in the overhead console. I had checked all fuses and nothing blown. I thought these were two separate issues that occurred at the same time, but apparently not. I had tried replacing the turn signal flasher relay, which didn't change anything. Next I replaced the turn signal multifunction switch, still nothing. I then started poking around under the dash, checking grounds. Finally, I just pulled out fuses F2.27, F2.18 and F2.34. Nothing blown. I wiped them down and blew on them, just because and then turned them around and re-inserted the fuses. Everything now works. I don't know what the real issue was, but there apparently was something interfering with the fuse connection.
Now, all I have left is to fix the rear sensor/alarm not working...and cruise control.
