Adjust trans linkage

I have a lot of slop in my linkage and need to adjust it and probably replace any worn bushings. Can anyone direct me in the best way to go about adjusting the linkage and gear selector inside the cab?

Before you go changing the adjustment I suggest you take care of the sloppiness 1st. Where is it sloppy? In the shift rod bushing or is the Shift collar flange cracking and bending internally? This is the housing that the shift lever mounts in to.

Haven't checked the shift collar flange I'll check it out.
Linkage/kickdown rod off the carb moves side to side about 1/4" more of less. Also couple of times it's popped out of park.

To adjust the linkage, take off the C clip at the bottom of the shift rod and spin the rod. It's threaded up top.

If your flange is messed up you might not be getting it all the way in to Park. As far as the kick down rod is concerned, If it's still the original 1971 set-up there are replacement bushings at both ends. Top is part number C5AZ9C805A and bottom is part number C4SZ7C484A. Here are some places that have BOTH in stock. Call them and get your best deal. Parts AND shipping.
Griesel Motors..............405-263-7242
Freese Motors..............319-465-3541
Parts International.........972-241-8730
Klimesh Motors..............563-562-3241
Green Sales..................800-543-4959

Ya might figure out what you need for the sloppy shifting before ya call these guys. They may have what you need there also. Save freight $.

For a 1969,300 I6,C4:

EOSZ7341B......upper bushing & retainer assy at the column's lever is still available from Ford. Was originally red in color.
C5TZ7343A......lower bushing and steeve style down at trans. There are a ton of places that show it. Here are the closest that should be able to stick it in an envelope'
