Transmission Leak

I bought a 2002 F350 a month ago and I have developed a transmission leak. I bought this truck in Phoenix Arizona and drove it back to here to Iowa, 1500 miles, and didn't have any problems or leaks. I have driven it very little since I got back. I pulled in the driveway to night and there was an oil spot underneath the truck. It's weird because the truck has sat there for three days and no oil but now there's a good sized spot under it. There is fluid around the pan and dripping from the bolts (it was dark and hard to see) but it looks like it may be coming from the back. Any ideas? I am going to drop the pan and change the filter and put a new oem gasket on it this weekend. The other thing I noticed the last time I drove it was a slight shudder when starting from a dead stop. The stock trans temp gauge was towards the top end of the gear symbol (roughly in the middle of normal) which is where it has been when at operating temp. Sorry for the long post.

For the shudder, what style tires do you have? The more aggressive the tire is meaning a mud/off road style tire not much of a pavement tire they will shudder at take off.
