I have a strange problem. My turn signals wont work when it is cold outside the emergancy flahers have never failed and work when the turn signals are on the blink. I can run the truck with the heater on and they will start working after 10-15 min. I have not put a lot of effort in fixing this but I have relaced the flasher relay and the turn signal switch. I have never seen or heard of this problem have any of yall.
The flasher relay and multi-function switch have both been replaced, so that rules them out. The turn signals start working after the cab heats up, so that pretty much rules out the individual lamps and associated wiring.
The flasher relay gets power from 2 fuses, #1 (20A) which is hot all the time, and #23 (10A) which is hot in run. My guess is that fuse 23 supplies power for the turn signal function since they only operate in run.
I would look closely at fuse 23 and its associated contacts in the fuse panel. There might be an intermittent loose connection that expands ever so slightly and starts working when it warms up. It probably wouldn't hurt to just replace that fuse.
Have you had any windshield leaks that might have gotten the fuse panel wet?
Thank you Chris. The expansion thing is something I considered. The info you provided will help in that search. My best guess is that the ground for both turn signals and flashers are the same so possibly no problem there. I will check the fuse and other connections. Thanks again.
