My plug is stripped out on my frame rail fuel filter housing and I've been getting the water on fuel light but can't drain it. So I've been using water remover to help alleviate some of the water to hopefully keep it out of my injectors. Can I drill that plug out? I don't have the cash to replace the housing right now, but I want to get that water out.

You don't want to use anything that emulsifies the water as that will send the water to your injectors, the only way to get rid of the water that is injector friendly is to drain it from the HFCM. You can remove the HFCM cover and do what you need to remove the plug.
The cover sounds like the route I may need to go, because if u replace the bottom frame rail filter housing, you have to replace the top one is what I've heard so that's more money. Anyone have the motorcraft part number for the cover.

I have a similar issue but on a 2006 F-350 without any drain plug. I got the water in fuel deal and had both filters replaced. I still have the water in fuel light 10 minutes after starting up. Longer if it is below freezing. I reset the light and it does not come back until I shut down and start up again.

Didn't know that any of these trucks came without a drain plug. Do you have an after market set-up of some sort?

It's a 6mm hex fitting on the side of the hfcm.
The newer drain is a knurled finger tightened fitting.
So when I get the new cover, I'm gonna get a new rubber gasket for the inside. When I take the cover off, I should have a drain pan underneath for the water and diesel to go onto correct?
