Hi Guys,
2004 f350 6.0 4x4 drw 5r auto 4.10 gear. I'm planning an egr cooler delete with IPR Gen II kit w/oem oil cooler. The truck will mainly be used to tow a gooseneck hitch 4horse trailer w/living qtrs. 16 - 16500 lbs. loaded. Currently 5* - 7* delta at normal operating temp without pulling trailer. Anyone know what to expect from EOT & ECT from deleting the egr cooler w/o adding an external oil cooler?
yes, oem oil cooler. will also do several distilled water coolant flushes just prior to the egr cooler delete, and adding an xdp coolant filter, but not a reverse flush due to the potential for clogging problems of the existing oil cooler. will use an elc coolant. any suggestions?

My only suggestion would be to NOT change the oil cooler. This is one of those "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" situations. No need to disrupt a perfectly working system. Do the EGR delete and call it good
Justin,
If not changing the oem oil cooler, should I attempt to do a reverse coolant flush prior to the egr cooler delete or just regular coolant flush as I described. Thanks for your help and I sure agree with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Truck has 122K mi., Oasis report showed oil cooler replaced @ 20.3K miles due to hg failure & warped heads replaced w/remanufactured heads. Subsequently @ 64.4K mi. HPOP pump failed & replaced.
Thanks again for your help!
Joe
I wouldn't even do a reverse flush. You can, but your oil cooler sounds like its in perfect health. Don't use any chemicals on it, just flush with water.
Do you plan on switching to ELC coolant?
I run Delo ELC, its about $15 a gallon of concentrate.
Shell makes a good product as well as many others.
Just make sure its CAT EC-1 rated silicate free and its concentrate.
The system will take 3.5 gallons ELC and 3.5 gallons distilled water.
