As promised since everyone seems to love pics I'm posting some of my 52 F1 I recently bought. I've already recieved so much input from everyone from one single post that it has helped me to narrow down the important things I want from this truck. But here are a few pics as it is now and was when I bought it. Again I'm new to this whole experience but it's something I've wanted to do for a long time.[/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG]
Thanks, I wouldn't say rust free, it has had an older restoration that included some work on the body and the cab arms underneath are in not the best shape but overall it is pretty decent shape. Also after further inspection of the electrical I'm convinced it needs some strong attention. Everything works, but there are some serious deterioration issues and someone has played patchwork quite a bit.
very nice truck. much nicer than most of use started with. if you need wiring and are not interested in an OEM restoration, many of us have put in generic wiring harnesses. i've done two 'EZ wire harnesses, both are working well. other sets are available too. it seems preferable from fixing one bad wire at a time. welcome to FTE.
You've got a good looking truck there. With the 6v, you'll be running heavier gauge wire than 12v. There are so few wires in this truck that while there are harnesses available from Rhode Island Wire, if you are looking to stay stock original, or from Painless or Rebel, if you are not a purist.
Separately, I had understood that the 52s had the FORD letters on the upper valance. Was that not always the case?
What are some recommended products/sites for replacement wiring. It is still 6v at this point.
For my '52(6 volt), I bought a new dash/engine harness from Mac's......it was a matter of simply removing the old one and hooking up the new one. Made in USA and very good quality. This is probably the simplest way if you are staying stock.
I ran my own head and tail light wires as they are pretty easy to figure out.
