I purchased a 1978 ranger F350 4x4 super cab last year. It has dual batteries and camper special badging. It had a 4" lift with Dana 60 front and rears. Auto trans and big block power. I see no pigtail for a camper, no tie downs or the ugly spare tire door on the bed.y question is did ford build a super cab camper special 4x4 in 1978?

I'm not certain about Super Camper Specials but the first year for a F-350 4x4 is 1979.
The only F350 4x4 was in 79 regular cab with vin start of F36. What is your vin now? Many parts swaps through the years and it's easy to ad different badging to make it look like an original F350. But no camper special 4x4 of any kind either.

Yes they built a Camper Special F-350 Regular cab or a Super cab 4x4 in 79. No it did not include the spare tire door, that was only on 2wd 140" wheelbase trucks. The Camper Special did not include any tie downs.

Brainfart........I always keep thinking about F350 4x4s being regular cabs and camper specials having that spare tire door. I've been reading too many threads and confusing my mind. Thanks for setting things straight as usual.
Was there Dana 60 front ends in those year F250's?thats what I have. Along with a 460 which I yanked and replaced with a 429 CJ because that was what it was suppose to have had when I bought it. Yes I really got boned. My own fault.
