Timing gear replacement.
I have just replaced the timing gears on my '82 F100 with the 300 cid. I have both gears seated tightly and both gears are aligned together, but there is still some sound coming from the front of my motor, has anyone had this problem? It sounds like a fan off balance. Do i just need to let the new gears wear a little?

Did you get the thrust washer installed correctly? As I recall, it has to go one direction and have proper clearance.

Problem discovered. I removed the timing cover to check and see what was going on. After turning the engine over the cam settled and the gear rode slightly forward, so i just need to press the gear on like 1/64-1/32 of an inch more, so make sure that your thrust plates and gears are seated very snug or you will have sounds coming from your timing box like you've never heard.

I have the cam gear completely seated onto the cam shaft, still have the noise. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it possible that my gears just need to wear a little or is there maybe another issue?
